Formerly great rapper and current right-wing shill Kanye West could be facing a $250 million USD lawsuit from the family of George Floyd after falsely claiming that Floyd, who was killed by police officer Derek Chauvin, actually died of a fentanyl overdose.

Ye made his false claims during a recent appearance on the podcast Drink Champs, where he also spread antisemitic conspiracy theories. The episode has since been taken down.

Floyd's former partner, Roxie Washington, has said that she will be filing a lawsuit on behalf of her and Floyd's daughter Gianna. Through the Witherspoon Law Group and Dixon & Dixon Attorneys at Law, the family have sent Ye a cease-and-desist, and intend to seek at least $250 million USD in damages.

"The interests of the child are priority," said attorney Nuru Witherspoon in a statement. "George Floyd's daughter is being re-traumatized by Kanye West's comments, and he's creating an unsafe and unhealthy environment for her."

Additionally, George Floyd's brother Philonise is considering his own lawsuit, attorney Lee Merritt told ABC News.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Floyd's death a homicide. Police officer Derek Chauvin was filmed kneeling on Floyd's neck for nine minutes, resulting in his death. He was found guilty of murder and is currently in prison.

Spreading lies can have very real financial consequences, as Alex Jones of InfoWars recently learned — he lost nearly $1 billion USD for sharing false conspiracy theories about the Sandy Hook shooting.
