In a world where world tours can be ruined even if somebody doesn't know who the touring artist is, Justin Timberlake has pleaded not guilty to the DWI charge he acquired for allegedly driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons back in June.
The former boy band member appeared virtually in court today in Sag Harbor, NY, over a video call from Antwerp, Belgium, amid the aforementioned tour behind Everything I Thought It Was. He reportedly spoke twice to answer "yes" to Sag Harbor Village Justice Justice Carl Irace.
After considering a motion to dismiss the case, Irace suspended Timberlake's Tennessee-issued driver's licence in the state of New York because he had refused to take a breathalyzer test when he was pulled over by police in the early morning hours of June 18, NBC reports, with the suspension set to last for the pendency of the case. The judge also threatened the star's lawyer, Edmund Burke Jr., with a gag order for the "irresponsible" comments he made at the last hearing, adding that it "comes off as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins."
Burke Jr. maintained Timberlake's claim that he was not intoxicated when he was pulled over while driving a 2025 BMW "in an intoxicated condition," with Sag Harbor police claiming that he had failed to stop at a stop sign as well as failing to maintain his lane of travel. "I had one martini and I followed my friends home," the musician and actor was quoted telling police.
The next conference for the case is scheduled for August 9, and Timberlake is not required to make an appearance. There's another hearing scheduled for September 13, which may or may not require his presence depending on what happens later this month.
