July Talk released their latest album Touch earlier this year, bringing it to adoring fans on the road over the last few months. At a recent stop in Buffalo, though, frontwoman Leah Fay encountered a particularly moronic dude in the crowd, and she's now responded to the incident on Twitter.

In a note that she tweeted, Fay explains that an audience member at the Town Ballroom on Friday (December 16) shouted: "Show us your tits." He was asked to leave the show, punching another attendee on the way out.

The apple apparently doesn't fall far from the tree, as his father then attempted to fight a security guard when his son was asked to leave the venue.

Fay goes on to show surprising compassion for the rowdy concertgoer, noting that he was "brought up in a fucked up society, under broken systems that taught you that this kind of behaviour is okay."

She reasons, "If I hate you, these norms I hate will never change," and points out that the opportunity to learn from the experience would disappear.

Fay's thoughtful message ends with a plea for a "softer 2017." Read her full response below.
