Josh Ritter Announces 'Bringing in the Darlings' EP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Feb 8, 2012

New releases are often preceded by months of advance promotion, but Brooklyn songwriter Josh Ritter isn't exactly playing by the rules. Ritter has announced that he will be releasing his Bringing in the Darlings EP two weeks from now on February 21 via Pytheas Recordings.

This six-song EP is made up of tracks that were originally intended for his forthcoming yet-to-be-announced full-length but didn't fit with the others he was writing. A press release notes, "They do all have something in common though -- they all use the word 'darling' in the lyrics!" So that explains the title. The songs were recorded in just four days at Brooklyn's Homeward Sound studio.

Bringing in the Darlings will be available on ten-inch vinyl, CD and digital formats. Check out the tracklist below, and stay tuned for news about that forthcoming album. When it arrives, the record will be Ritter's first since 2010's So Runs the World Away.

Bringing in the Darlings:

1. "Why"
2. "Love Is Making Its Way Back Home"
3. "Darlin'"
4. "Make Me Down"
5. "See Me Through"
6. "Can't Go to Sleep (Without You)"
