Late last year, we pointed to Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood's score for director Anh Hung Tran's Norwegian Wood, a film adaptation of the Haruki Murakami novel of the same name. At the time, the soundtrack was only available as an overseas import, but those of us afraid of shipping fees did get a small taste of it via Greenwood's tender, finger-picked "Toki no Senrei wo Uketeinai mono wo Yomuna," which roughly translates to "Don't Read What Hasn't Been Baptized by Time." If you were hoping that the record would get a proper North American release, today must be your lucky day.
Nonesuch has confirmed that the label will issue the set on March 8 in North America. Much of Greenwood's score was performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Emperor Quartet, but the soundtrack also features three songs from Krautrock innovators Can.
