All set to begin recording his next album with Ian McGettigan, romantic Toronto soul man Peter Elkas has just released a sweet little harbinger of great things to come with "Poor Young Things."
A songwriting collab with his Emergency band leader Joel Plaskett, "Poor Young Things" is the A-side for one of the first seven-inch singles out on Plaskett's New Scotland Records (the B-side "Repeat Offender" is a cool, Keith Richards-style jam worth checking out too). Elkas showed up at Plaskett's Scotland Yard home studio with a fragment of the song-in-progress and the brothers-from-other-mothers hashed out a cool, infectious tune that speaks to classic ideals of rock 'n' roll camaraderie. Glory days indeed!
