In the years since Joe Strummer's sudden death in 2002, the music world has remembered the late Clash icon with multiple documentary films (Let's Rock Again!, Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten, Strummerville). It's only logical, then, that the punk hero will be getting his own biopic as well.
Screen Daily [via The Playlist] reports that the film has the working title Joe Public and is currently being written by Paul Viragh, who previously penned the 2009 film Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll about Ian Dury.
The film is being produced by Damian Jones and Simon Halfon, and it will be coming out through the Britain's Film4. As it's still in the writing stage, we shouldn't expect this one too soon -- there's currently no word as to when filming will start. Still, this gives Clash fans something to look forward to as they revisit their 30th anniversary edition of London Calling.
