According to TMZ, Jackson died on Wednesday in Los Angeles at 3:30 a.m. local time. Jackson had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. His wife Katherine had been visiting his bedside regularly along with a number of his children and grandchildren.
Jackson was most famous for launching his family band the Jackson 5. He also managed his children Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson as they launched their solo careers.
Michael publicly criticized Joe for his parenting and management style, claiming that Joe was regularly abusive. Joe said his methods helped keep his children out of trouble.
Joe and Katherine had 10 children and were married for over 60 years.
