Here's something you probably didn't know about 69-year-old folk icon Joan Baez: she sleeps in a tree. Unfortunately, the singer's unusual choice of sleeping arrangements has come at a price, as last week, she was hospitalized after falling out of the tree.
Baez typically makes her bed in a treehouse on her property in Woodside, CA. Last month, she told the Democrat and Chronicle, "My contact with nature and the moon and the birds and the trees, they mean so much to me."
Baez was climbing out of the tree in the morning of November 17 when she fell to the ground, sustaining minor injuries and ending up in Standford Hospital. According to the San Jose Mercury News [via Rolling Stone], Baez was released and is now resting.
Having recently wrapped up a string of North American dates, Baez will be heading out on a French tour in spring 2011.
