The billboards don't lie: Jessie Reyez is still at work on a new album, and the Toronto artist has now teased what's to come from sophomore LP Yessie with new song "Mutual Friend."
The latest from Reyez arrives alongside a music video directed by Peter Huang, in which the artist and a host of dancers declare independence as flowers wilt and a meteor streaks across the sky. Through it all, Reyez remains firm: "If you die tomorrow / I don't think I'd cry."
Reyez premiered "Mutual Friend" last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside show-stopping string accompaniment, which you'll also find below.
New album Yessie, the follow-up to Reyez's 2020 debut Before Love Came to Kill Us, will be out September 16 via FMLY/Island Records.
Reyez previously captured the 2020 Prism Prize and a 2021 Juno Award for Music Video of the Year with visuals for "Far Away" and "No One's in the Room," respectively.
