It's been less than a year since Toronto folkie Jerry Leger earned our approval with his rock'n'roll-oriented turn on The Good Days Are Back in Drag, and now he's preparing for his next album and tour. The fall, he will play a string of Canadian shows, in addition to putting out Some Folks Know on November 13.
Produced by Tim Bovaconti, this new 12-track collection is credited to Jerry Leger & the Situation. It features Canuck songwriting icon Ron Sexsmith on piano, plus a duet with Serena Ryder called "All Over Again."
A press release notes that "the characters who populate the album seem dangerously unsatisfied, being pushed to the brink, if not already there." Get a taste of the disc's folk-rocking sound by streaming the twangy, Sexsmith-featuring opening cut "Den of Sin" at the bottom of this page.
