Toronto roots treasure Jerry Leger has given us plenty of notice on his next road trip in support of 2014's Early Riser, with a cross-Canada tour officially set to launch later this spring.
Leger has a couple of one-off shows booked in Ontario next month, including an appearance at Orillia, ON's Roots North Music Festival, but he kicks off the tour proper at Ottawa's House of Targ on April 30. The trek has him heading out towards the Maritimes, and then blitzing out towards the West Coast before wrapping things up in early June in Thunder Bay.
Some of the shows will have him backed by a full band, while others will feature a more stripped-down approach. You'll find all of the date details down below.
Additionally, a split 7-inch with Graham Nicholas will be delivered May 16, in the middle of Leger's tour. The record will feature an Early Riser outtake called "Rusty but Working." He and Nicholas will play a record release show at Toronto's Cameron House the same day the single hits shelves.
Before the unreleased tune arrives, you can sample a Bob Dylan cover Leger tracked for Latent Recordings' Under Cover series. His take on "Heart of Mine" (which was recorded with Cowboy Junkies' Michael Timmins), as well as Cowboy Junkie's own revamp of Dylan's "If You Got to Go, Go Now," are available for the price of an email. You can grab the download here.
