Jeff Tweedy to Produce Next Mavis Staples Album; Wilco Announce More 2010 Tour Dates

Some interesting news from everyone's fave haiku-loving alt-country dudes Wilco: the band's main man, Jeff Tweedy, is going to be producing the new album from Chicago soul legend Mavis Staples.

The two are holed up in Wilco's loft studio this month recording, reports Billboard. Tweedy's Jack White-ish decision to record a genre legend should prove to be a fruitful one, especially considering the addition of vocalists Nora O'Connor and Kelly Hogan, and its release later this year on the happenin' Anti- Records.

As far as Wilco goes, their latest album, Wilco (the Album), has been nominated for a Grammy and the band have added more tour dates to an already busy 2010 schedule. These 16 East coast dates are being called "An Evening with Wilco," and will feature the band playing songs from all of their albums, and, according to the group, "extended, varied sets."
