Toronto's prolific garage rocker JEEN has announced a new album Gold Control.
Co-produced with frequent collaborator Ian Blurton, Gold Control is her sixth album and the follow-up to 2022's Tracer. The 10-track collection builds off her signature grunge-rock sound delivered through her husky vocals.
She said about the album in a press release: "I lost all my demo projects for this upcoming album in a massive computer failure last year, so Ian suggested we just go in and jam the songs a bunch top to bottom and re-demo them before we started tracking for real. We had never done it that way for the previous albums; always just worked off my home demos as opposed to rehashing the songs prior with the full band. Anyway, it was super fun to go a little deeper on these songs at that early stage and I think the whole LP is better for it."
She has yet to reveal the release date of more specifics about the album, but in the meantime, she has shared the punky single "Just Shadows."
"I wrote 'Just Shadows' thinking how the darker parts of everything can snuff out some of the best people's light," said JEEN. "It's about trying to get out from under it so we don't just become casualties of our shittiest days."
