Live on 'Kimmel'

Tidal continues to be dogged by rumours of its impending collapse, but rap fans can now put their schadenfreude on hold and check out Jay Z's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, which aired some of this week's TIDAL X: 10/20 charity concert.

This show took place at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn on Tuesday (October 20). Kimmel aired Jay Z's hometown-celebrating anthem "Empire State of Mind," as Jay is supported by a troupe of backup vocalists while he explains how he made a Yankees hat more famous than a Yankee can.

Also at the show, Usher wore handcuffs and was joined by Nas and Bibi Bourelly for a soulful version of "Chains." (The show also featured Lil Wayne, Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj, but their performances weren't aired on Kimmel.)

Not only did Kimmel air songs from the gig, but Jay Z swung by the talk show — which is being held in New York this week, rather than in its usual home in Los Angeles — to talk with the host Tidal, Brooklyn, being a sports agent, and more. See the full selection of clips below.
