Vibraphones are one of the most beautiful and modern-sounding instruments in music. A creature of the industrial revolution, it re-imagines the African balafon via the corseting of the piano's tempered scale, adding the trademark shimmer. Adasiewicz presents a series of original compositions, with the addition of Ellington's "Warm Valley," all performed with warmth and sensitivity by drummer Mike Reed and bassist Nate McBride. The compositions themselves are quite beautiful, displaying an economy of line and exploring the distinct sounds of the vibes in a way that goes beyond the pianistic analogy.
