Ontario musician Chris Minielly makes experimental dream pop under the name Jaguar Sun, and with his album This Empty Town due out on July 24 via Born Losers Records, Exclaim! has the premiere of the video for the new single "Keep You Warm."
At its core, "Keep You Warm" is a tender ballad, with bittersweet acoustic strums setting the mood for melancholic lyrics about the struggles of a difficult relationship. The arrangement is fleshed out with gauzy reverb and dreamily propulsive beats, resulting in a song that's comforting rather than dejected.
"'Keep You Warm' is about the trials two people face in a relationship," Minielly said in a statement. "The moments you're both down, the moments you're confused and upset, the moments you turn things around."
The song comes with a self-directed video. It sets a peaceful vibe with natural imagery along with a continuous shot of Minielly sitting in his dimly lit home studio. Check it out below.
This Empty Town will be released digitally and as a limited run of cassettes.
