The Human Abstract

Nocturne

BY Ariana RockPublished Feb 14, 2007

This five-piece band hailing from Los Angeles, CA are a metalcore melting pot of influences derived from acts such as Avenged Sevenfold and Between the Buried and Me. Technically proficient at shredding and delivering rock vocals, their sound leaves something to be desired in the originality and impact departments. There is nothing particularly bad or lacking in their music but there is also little that makes it stand out above the crowd, take root in your brain and beg to be listened to and yelled emphatically along with. There are however, moments of extreme breakdowns with classical guitars and quietly sung lyrics that bring a new feeling to the album, but without fully integrating that in with their more familiar style it gets drowned away amidst the guitar acrobatics and ends up feeling like two opposed sounds that never meet face to face.
