Horse the Bands latest release might make your head explode. Their energetic combination of new-wave synths, aggressive punk vocals and hardcore breakdowns are both tempting and traumatising at the same time. The eerie chimes in "Cutsman are more haunting than any black metal, while the keyboard outro could very well be a dance track from the early 90s. With a sassy vocal styling reminiscent of the Blood Brothers and noisy guitar bits that sound like the Locust, Horse the Band are combining different elements from a lot of modern fuzz-driven bands. It works, surprisingly, as each track is as punishing as it is poppy. Definitely keep an eye out for these guys to be kicking some ass in the next year.
