Honey Jam Announces Auditions for 2022 Artist Development Programme

Emerging artists chosen from across Canada will receive educational, networking and performance opportunities

Coming off of a successful 26th season last year, longstanding national youth artist development institution Honey Jam has announced audition details for its 2022 programme.

Honey Jam is, first and foremost, a "forever sisterhood," according to founder Ebonnie Rowe. The programme seeks to empower and support women aged 14 to 25 in the music industry across all genres and styles — and having helped launch the careers of the likes of Nelly Furtado and Melanie Fiona, they have a stellar track record of facilitating a safe space for young women in music to learn and build lasting relationships.

Auditions take place on June 5 at 2 p.m. at Toronto's historic El Mocambo, while those unable to attend in-person can submit their tryouts online. Those auditioning in person at the El Mocambo are asked to arrive one hour ahead of time for registration. Contestants will each be given one minute and are permitted to audition to track (via your phone and an adapter or a labelled flash drive) or with minimal accompaniment (i.e., guitar or keyboard). Artists are asked to perform the same song they would like to highlight at the showcase if chosen, but covers are allowed so long as you bring your own style to it.

Artists chosen to take part in this year's programme will be provided with mentoring, workshops featuring industry professionals, networking assistance, vocal/performance coaching and performance opportunities, including the annual Honey Jam Showcase.

All applicants must fill out the audition form on the Honey Jam website, and can contact honeyjaminfo@gmail.com with any questions. Check out the audition details on the poster below.
