The Hollow Points are a three-piece from Seattle who spit out some anthemic and aggressive street-punk that fairly explodes out of the speakers. The Black Spot is their third release and was produced by skate legend and member of the U.S. Bombs, Duane Peters, while also being released on his Disaster Records label. The disc is filled with 14 three-minute, three-chord tunes that are fast and furious, but still melodic with hoarse vocals and some tasty leads that keep it all fresh. Lyrically, the band don't pull any punches, taking dead aim at the U.S. political and economic system. The Bush Administration, Haliburton and even Britney Spears all get name-checked as the Hollow Points set their sights on a corrupt system and try to set the record straight. All-in-all, its a standout release that gets better with every listen.
