Hollerado Talk New Margaritaville 2: The Reckoning
Published Oct 28, 2010Over the past year, everything has gone Hollerado's way. Last November, they won $250,000, and have since got a distribution deal with Arts & Crafts, toured China and Canada and gone viral with their new "Americanarama" video. Now, the fun-loving rockers have announced they'll be releasing a new ten-inch record next month entitled Margaritaville 2: The Reckoning.
In an email to Exclaim!, the Manotick, ON-based band wrote, "This record is just a bit of a mishmash of tracks we recorded over the last three years. We recorded a couple of these songs a few years a go at the Boiler Room studio in New York, a few we just did in a living room."
The record will also include songs produced by the Besnard Lakes' Jace Lasek at Breakglass Studios in Montreal. Hollerado previously toured with the Besnard Lakes back in the spring.
As for what fans can expect, the band revealed, "There's a song about a ghost that hangs out in the mill in our old town. There's a song about evacuating a war zone when you're the daughter of a crazy inventor. The opening track is actually a little diddy of advice that everyone should follow."
The ten-inch will be on the merch table by mid-November via Hollerado's Royal Mountain Records. It will come packaged with the band's new hot sauce. They explained, "We're coming out with a super-hot and healthy hot sauce tonic, a real hangover buster, you know? And what two things go together better than new vinyl and needing a hangover cure?"
While you're waiting for the new vinyl, be sure to check out the staggering "Americanarama" video at the bottom of this page. As for how the "human 8-bit" concept was accomplished, they wrote, "It actually took about 15 minutes to do one take, on account of the play back was 400 percent slower than the actual recording."
