A Hero A Fake

The Future Again

BY Bradley Zorgdrager Published Jul 17, 2012

A Hero A Fake's newest album, The Future Again, lists nine tracks on the back, which is already short enough. However, the album only contains eight tracks, which begs the question, "why bother?" However, the missing track is also a perfect metaphor for A Hero A Fake's sound, which is not quite all there, not quite full enough and just a little empty. Albums like The Future Again are the reason why metalcore gets such a bad rep in the metal community: the music is formulaic, the emotions sound manufactured and the breakdowns appear all too frequently. Perhaps the band's decision to not take "A Simple Drive Through The Lake" was a conscientious one because the lyrics, "Pathetic existence, you're a lifeless piece of shit," were a little too autobiographical, considering their boring music.
