Eighteen tracks and a million random musings later, Flowers, Birds and Home never feels overexposed. Instead, each song sounds like it comes from a seasoned musician with at least two greatest hits discs on the shelf. And that's quite an achievement, considering Switzerland alt/folk artist Heidi Happy (aka Priska Zemp) has only been pursuing a career in music since 2005. As the record progresses, Zemp's beautiful lyricism and gentle pop melodies lead you deeper and deeper into sharp, vibrant observations about our multifaceted world. It's like taking an orchestral journey through her personal thoughts. "O-O-Oh" is the most poignant track on the disc, capturing Zemp's sincere vocals and often humorous words: "Why don't I just learn from my mistakes?" she sings about late night drinking, as she tries to sleep while birds annoyingly chirp. The rest of the album follows suit. She ponders home, love and the superficiality that often lines those ideas, breathing new life into the way we witness the everyday world.
