After revisiting her late '70s Asylum Albums with a box set in June, Joni Mitchell will now clear the vault of rarities from the period for another new tome.
Archives, Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980) arrives October 4 via Rhino Records, collecting unreleased studio sessions, alternate versions, live recordings from a span of years that yielded full-lengths like 1976's Hejira, 1977's Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, 1979's Mingus and 1980 live recording Shadows and Light.
Previewing the set today is a recording from Mitchell's time in Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue, capturing her performance of Hejira opener "Coyote" during a tour stop at Montreal's Forum in 1975.
The set also packs in a book containing never-before-seen photos and liner notes comprising a new interview between Mitchell and longtime friend Cameron Crowe.
Archives, Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980) will see release in 6CD, 4LP and digital formats, and is now available for pre-order.
Ahead of more "Joni Jam" concerts in Los Angeles this October, Mitchell's life and work will be celebrated via a new podcast.
