Haste The Day

Attack of the Wolf King

BY Travis PersaudPublished Jun 28, 2010

Haste The Day have had memorable moments in their four-LP catalogue ― songs that stick out, smile-worthy breakdowns and riffs ― but they've never made a signature full-length that captures listeners beyond the devoted Haste The Day fan. Attack of the Wolf King could be that album. The guitars shape the feel of Attack. Songs such as "Wake Up the Sun" and "Travesty" have both axes singing to each other, creating a sense of unity. The quintet find the right balance of raucous hardcore chugging ("The Place That Most Deny," "Crush Resistance") and melodic sections ("Walk With a Crooked Spine," "Dog Like Vultures"), which will please listeners craving either. Haste The Day have discovered a way to take their stylistic elements that have been scattered across past releases and fuse them together on Attack of the Wolf King. This is easily their best effort to date.
