The well-publicized tragedy that took place at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado on July 20 has left 12 people dead and many wounded. As a response to this terrible event, the film's soundtrack composer Hans Zimmer has released a benefit track to raise funds for the victims.

Simple titled "Aurora," the eight-and-a-half-minute composition is comprised entirely of choral vocals.

On his Facebook page, Zimmer writes, "'Aurora' is dedicated to those who lost their lives and were affected by the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado. I recorded this song in London in the days following the tragedy as a heartfelt tribute to the victims and their families. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Aurora Victim Relief organization."

The track can be downloaded now from iTunes here. A sample of the recording can also be streamed here.
