After hitting the market in 2018, Hamilton's This Ain't Hollywood has officially been sold.
News of the bar and live music venue's sale was shared by owners on Instagram yesterday (May 3). "As many of you know, the property has been on the market for some time so we knew this day might come," the post reads. "It saddens us to inform you that this will also mark the end of This Ain't Hollywood."
The statement continued: "Our goal on day one was to open a neighbourhood friendly bar offering Hamilton a variety of music, and art. While we are saddened by the end of this era, we look upon the last 11 years as a truly special chapter in Hamilton's illustrious musical story."
This Ain't Hollywood went up for sale in November 2018. At the time, ownership told CBC News that the decision came after they had been approached by a real estate agent, who believed there were interested buyers.
"It was a really tough decision… you grow so attached after 10 years," co-owner Lou Molinaro previously told the broadcaster. "It's still your baby."
Co-owners Molinaro and Glen and Jodie Faulman bought the building in 2009 for just under $350,000. The venue has seen the likes of Teenage Head, Sparks, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Monster Truck, Rheostatics, Limblifter and many more grace its stage.
As ownership revealed in this weekend's post, "The closing date for the sale of the building is August 4th. At this point, we have not determined a last date for the venue but we will definitely keep you informed. Please stay tuned to our social media pages for more updates on some unforgettable farewell shows."
