Halifax Pop Explosion is set to return to Nova Scotia's capital this fall for its 25th anniversary, and the lineup of performers for the 2017 edition of the festival has just been announced.
Japandroids, Patrick Watson, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Weaves, Ria Mae, Clairmont the Second, Cloud Nothings, Charlotte Day Wilson, and Tasha the Amazon are all slated to perform.
In addition to the musical entertainment, there will also be a headlining comedy set, courtesy of Wyatt Cenac.
The XPAND Music Conference will also be happening in conjunction with the Halifax Pop Explosion, emphasizing a commitment to activism and community building. Presenters include Polaris Music Prize nominee Lido Pimienta, Chicago poet/musician Malcolm London and culture critic Laina Dawes, who will help attendees reach beyond the typical scope of the music industry and "explore the experiences of artists living in the world, through a variety of lenses."
The Canadian Label Summit will also return to Halifax for its second year, bringing together regional, national and international label reps for panel discussions, roundtable talks, and networking events.
Halifax Pop Explosion will run from October 18 to 21 at venues around Halifax, and earlybird wristbands are currently available for a discounted price of $99 over here. Find full festival information at the official Halifax Pop Explosion website.
