The Hacker / Various

And Now…

BY Stephanie KalePublished Jun 1, 2006

The Hacker (Michel Amato) professes "no computer, no editing” in the liner notes, priding himself on the selection and mixing of the songs featured on this album. A staunch and disciplined yet edgy mix, the Hacker maintains his deep and dark electro/techno style he’s practiced over the years in his productions with Miss Kittin. In this mix, the Hacker reaches back into the nascent days of electro and early techno and pulls out a few old school tracks, such as Liaisons Dangereuses’ "Los Ninos del Parque,” Front 242’s "No Shuffle” and Model 500’s "Techno Music.” These are arranged seamlessly with the work of contemporary artists such as Sleeparchive, Ellen Allien, the Emperor Machine and Mount Sims. This mix is a testament to the longevity of the electroclash sound.
