Hüsker Dü's Grant Hart to Drop First Solo Album in Ten Years, Ropes In Members of Godspeed and Silver Mt. Zion to Guest

Hüsker Dü alumnus Bob Mould has had a very busy solo career since his influential band disbanded, most recently releasing his Life and Times record. Lesser known and lesser active, however, is Hüsker Dü drummer Grant Hart, who will be releasing a new solo record called Hot Wax this fall.

Hart's last solo effort was entitled Good News for Modern Man and came out in 1999. A full decade later, Hot Wax features appearances from members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Silver Mt. Zion, which may at first seem like quite the surprise but makes sense considering the record was partially recorded at Montreal's Hotel2Tango.

In a post on his website, Hart explained why this solo record took so long, saying, "My working style can have a lot of contradictions. I can waste time looking for the right complement to an idea and then suddenly have a creative outburst that needs to be documented right now before it burns up. Making it happen and making it happen on tape and then making it happen on tape with the best sound possible are three different things. It means nothing to be wise if you have bad luck."

Hot Wax will be out on October 6 on CD and vinyl via Con D'Or Records. The song "Schoolbuses Are For Children" can be streamed at Hart's unofficial Myspace page, and the album can be ordered here.

Hot Wax:

1. "You're the Reflection of the Moon on the Water"

2. "Barbara"

3. "Charles Hollis Jones"

4. "Schoolbuses Are For Children"

5. "Narcissus Narcissus"

6. "California Zephyr"

7. "Sailor Jack"

8. "I Knew All About You Since Then"

9. "My Regrets"
