Gwar to Take "Eternal Tour" Across North America

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 20, 2014

Just a few days after Gwar gave the late Oderus Urungus (a.k.a. vocalist Dave Brockie) a viking funeral, the rest of the scumdogs have announced plans to forge ahead without their longtime leader on a fall North American tour.

The gore-flinging group recently unveiled a monstrous schedule behind their "Gwar Eternal Tour 2014." Following an appearance at Chicago's Riot Fest in September, Gwar properly kick off their trip mid-October, hitting various U.S. and Canadian clubs up until December. Canadian dates have been booked in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.

Attached to almost all of the dates are Austin punks American Sharks, while the trip also has Decapitated appearing on the first few weeks of shows and crossover greats Corrosion of Conformity coming in for the last batch of dates. You'll find the details down below.

A statement from longtime guitarist Balsac the Jaws of Death explains that the band are rallying together following the death of Oderus Urungus, and will leave "no city unsearched, no venue unraised, and no sheep unmolested" on the upcoming trip.

"Dark clouds of war and ill omen have gathered around Gwar," Balsac added. "In our hour of greatest peril, Oderus has left us and our enemies stand poised, ready to strike while they sense weakness. But we shall no longer cower in our Antarctic stronghold, awaiting destiny's final blow. This fall Gwar sets out on the most trying quest of our career."

Vocals are now being handled by Blothar (a.k.a. Michael Bishop), who had previously played bass in Gwar for a couple of stints in the '80s and '90s, though under the name Beefcake the Mighty.
