Since forming in Olympia, WA in 2001, Growing have made quite the name for themselves with their droning soundscapes and noisy abstractions. With various line-up changes and an obscene amount of releases under their belts, the band are now based out of Brooklyn, performing as a three-piece. Keeping with that love for change, the band have announced they've signed with Vice Records and prepared a new album for the spring.
The record is called PUMPS, and according to the label, it's "another top-shelf freakout of glitch, fuzz and drone," adding, "Drum machines create dense tribal rhythms and form the bedrock for the loneliest dance floor in the universe. Vocal samples swoop in and out like starlings over effects-laden synths and guitar."
A crazy, fuzzed-out track from the album called "Hormones" can be heard here.
PUMPS will be out on April 6, and will be followed by an as-yet-unannounced international tour.
