Grimes is a major label artist now, as she's signed with Columbia Records.
Billboard first reported the news over the weekend, and today Grimes confirmed she's indeed inked a deal with the label. In addition to thanking everyone for tuning in for all these years, she wrote: "COMMENCE PHASE 2."

The signing means Grimes will most likely no longer be working with 4AD — the label that's handled the international release of her most recent albums, including 2020's Miss Anthropocene. In Canada, though, both Miss Anthropocene and 2015's Art Angels were released via the label Crystal Math Records.
In 2018, Grimes made headlines after publicly lashing out at 4AD, saying Miss Anthropocene would be her "final album for my shit label." At the time, she also said her next record would be "my first album on a label of my choosing which im crazy stoked about."
However, in 2019, she then said, "I'll never sign with another label. I'll never have to put out another album. If I didn't have this whole requirement to release an 'album,' I would have just dropped a bunch of music ages ago."
