In what might be the most futuristic coupling of all time, pop experimenter Grimes is apparently dating inventive tech bro Elon Musk.
According to a report from Page Six, the pair started quietly dating last month and plan to make their budding relationship public when they walk the red carpet at the Met Gala tonight.
UPDATE (5/7, 10 p.m. EDT): As expected, Musk and Grimes indeed attended the Met Gala together. You can see a photo of the couple over here. Apparently, that dress Grimes is wearing was designed with the help of Musk, who described their Met Gala attendance as a "date night."
As could be expected, they started their friendship on Twitter. Musk had planned to make a joke about a thought experiment called "Roko's Basilisk," only to find out that Grimes had already made reference it in her song "Flesh Without Blood."
"Elon was researching the idea of joking about Rococo Basilisk, and when he saw Grimes had already joked about it, he reached out to her," says the insider. "Grimes said this was the first time in three years that anyone understood the joke. They were both poking fun at AI."
Whether or not the two are actually dating is yet to be seen, though they've certainly been having plenty of playful back and forth on Twitter as of late.
Musk is not the only cyborg-like person Grimes has been hanging out with. As previously reported, she's got a collaboration with Poppy in the works.
