Less than a year ago, Guelph songwriter Gregory Pepper rekindled his hip-hop-inspired collaboration with producer MadadaM for the album Big Huge Truck, but now he's returned to his usual project, Gregory Pepper and His Problems, for a new EP. My Bad is out March 25 through Choose My Music Records and it's available to stream.
The seven tracks are extremely concise, with more than half of them clocking in at less than two minutes. They take a diverse approach to harmony-filled pop rock, as "Is This Thing On?" is flecked with quirky synths and distorted guitars, while "My Bad" is a slow-moving piano ballad, "Restless Legs" is a folksy number with rustic harmonica, and there are traces of AutoTune in the curiously fuzzy "Shy Gangsta."
Hear it all below. The EP is available to buy on CD on Bandcamp via UK label Choose My Music Records.
