Guelph, ON-based singer-songwriter Gregory Pepper is gearing up to unleash his enthusiastically titled 10-song 7-inch record Chorus! Chorus! Chorus! next month, but before it lands, Exclaim! has got your first listen to album cut "Come By It Honestly."
The new record was designed to "sound like the album Weezer should have made after Pinkerton," with a press release clarifying what that means: "If Rivers hadn't lost his nerve and Matt hadn't left: elusively confessional, proudly nostalgic, and as fun as crashing a shopping cart when you're drunk with plans on getting drunker."
And while "Come By It Honestly" is one of the record's "less frenetic" offerings, it still nails the unabashedly Weezer-esque sound on the head, delivering just the right amount of angst atop tuned-down, fuzzed out "guitarmonies."
The rest of the 7-inch arrives on August 21 through Fake Four Inc., but you can give "Come By It Honestly" right now, in the player below.
