Following Grails' upcoming North American tour, the Portland post-rock combo will collect three volumes of their Black Tar Prophecies series onto a single release.
Though details are slim, a press release confirms that the fourth, fifth and sixth volume of the Black Tar Prophecies series are set to drop October 1 via Temporary Residence Ltd. Volume 4 had previously arrived as a limited-edition 12-inch, and the material of Volume 5 filled out Grails' side of a split LP with Pharaoh Overlord.
The three songs that make up Volume 6, however, are exclusive to the release and are said to "run the gamut from found-sound collage to moody, piano-driven soundtracks to obscure erotic horror films that never existed (but should have)."
Down below, you'll find a morbid trailer for the set that repurposes an old educational film about the suicide watch patrol at San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, while occasional flashing Grails' album art.
As previously reported, Grails head out on the road this September for a handful of North American tour dates, including stops in Toronto and Montreal. Joining them for the bulk of the trip will be band members Alex Hall and Emil Amos's side-project Lilacs & Champagne, and Chicago's Wrekmeister Harmonies (a.k.a. JR Robinson).
Tour dates:
9/10 Nashville, TN - The End
9/11 Atlanta, GA - The Earl
9/12 Chapel Hill, NC - Local 506
