Gorillaz and the Cure's Robert Smith have come together for another entry in 2020's Song Machine series for a track titled "Strange Timez," which arrives alongside its own animated video.
The arrival of the Jamie Hewlett-directed clip — which includes nods to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey — also marks the outfit's plans to release the Song Machine project officially.
Titled Song Machine: Season One — Strange Timez, the collection arrives October 23 via Warner and will feature the previously released five songs in the series (which saw contributions by ScHoolboy Q, Octavian, New Order's Peter Hook, Fatoumata Diawara, slowthai and Slaves), plus new tracks featuring Beck, Elton John, 6LACK, Leee John, Kano and Roxani Arias.
The deluxe edition of the collection — a box set which comes with its own set of art prints and a 210-page book — will see contributions by St. Vincent, Earthgang, Joan as Police Woman, Goldlink, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Moonchild Sanelly, JPEGMAFIA and CHAI, plus the previously released one-off Tony Allen/Skepta feature, "How Far?"
