Get The Gore

The latest disc from the Gore Gore Girls blends equal parts ’60s girl group pop with ’70s garage rock stomp to create a high-energy album. From the thunderous rumble of "Fox in a Box” and "Loaded Heart” to the more melodically sweet sway of "All Grown Up” and "Sweet Potato,” the Detroit-based group deliver a series of muscular tunes. With its jagged blues, "Pleasure Unit” features the kind of teeth-baring delivery that Boss Hog showed back in their heyday. Guitarist and vocalist Amy Gore belts out her lungs on the high-struttin’ "Little Baby,” while the entire band churn ferociously on the fuzz-driven "So Sophisticated.” With its balance of brashness and tunefulness, Get The Gore offers reliably solid listening.
