The latest disc from the Gore Gore Girls blends equal parts 60s girl group pop with 70s garage rock stomp to create a high-energy album. From the thunderous rumble of "Fox in a Box and "Loaded Heart to the more melodically sweet sway of "All Grown Up and "Sweet Potato, the Detroit-based group deliver a series of muscular tunes. With its jagged blues, "Pleasure Unit features the kind of teeth-baring delivery that Boss Hog showed back in their heyday. Guitarist and vocalist Amy Gore belts out her lungs on the high-struttin "Little Baby, while the entire band churn ferociously on the fuzz-driven "So Sophisticated. With its balance of brashness and tunefulness, Get The Gore offers reliably solid listening.
