Golden Globes Unveil 2016 Nominees

Earlier this week, the Grammy Awards offered up their list of potential winners for this year's ceremony. Switching the spotlight from music's biggest night to Hollywood's drunkest night, the nominees for the 2016 Golden Globe Awards have now been announced.
 
The annual event honouring work in film and television will take place on January 10. Ricky Gervais will host the broadcast for the fourth time, reclaiming the emcee title from Amy Poehler and Tina Fey for the first time since 2012.
 
The contenders for Best Picture, Drama are Carol, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant, Room and Spotlight, while the category of Best Picture, Comedy or Musical will see a battle between The Big Short, Joy, The Martian, Spy and Trainwreck.
 
Notable nominations in the television categories include Empire, Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot, Narcos and Outlander in the Best TV Series, Drama category, while Casual, Mozart in the Jungle, Orange Is the New Black, Silicon Valley, Transparent and Veep make up the list for Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical.
 
As for the musical categories, Best Original Score pits Carter Burwell (Carol), Alexandre Desplat (The Danish Girl), Ennio Morricone (The Hateful Eight), Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs) and Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto (The Revenant) against each other.
 
Best Original Song, meanwhile, will see a fight between Ellie Goulding, Brian Wilson, Wiz Khalifa, Sumi Jo and Sam Smith.
