Victoria, BC musicians Matthew Lyall, Murray Mckenzie and Jeff Mitchelmore used to make music under the name the Racoons, who delivered the Exclaim!-approved Islomania EP in 2010, but after losing trumpet player Douglas Hamilton-Evans, the trio decided to rebrand themselves Gold & Youth.
That's not all that's changed for the outfit, though. Since the name switch, they've linked up with Canadian indie powerhouse Arts & Crafts, who will release their debut LP this spring.
The act have signed on with the imprint to release their as-yet-unnamed full-length, which was produced by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, New Pornographers, Dan Mangan) and mixed by Gareth Jones (Depeche Mode, Grizzly Bear, Interpol). A tracklisting has also yet to appear, but you can check out the makeout-heavy black and white trailer for the album, which features a score of moody keyboard and baritone vocals, down below.
It's apparently the first of a planned series of vignettes to promote the release before it hits online and brick-and-mortar retailers.
