A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for Vein.fm drummer Matt Wood after sustaining a fractured wrist on a recent North American tour — an injury that requires surgery "if he ever wants to drum again."

Campaign organizer Devan Gomez writes that while Vein.fm were on their way to Canada in support of Touche Amore last month, Wood broke his left wrist "badly" in an accident.

"He went to the ER where they put him in a splint for the time being but was told he would need to see an orthopedist ASAP," Gomez writes. "Matt was evaluated by an orthopedist this week who told us that he has a distal radius intra articular three part displaced fracture and he would need surgery immediately if he ever wants to be able to drum again."

The campaign explains that Wood is without health insurance, and funds are being raised to cover costs of the surgery and the physical therapy that is expected to follow. "Right now we've been given a cost estimate of 15,000 dollars but still do not know for sure what the grand total will be," Gomez explains.

"Matt has dedicated his whole life to drumming and gives everything to every band he's involved in. Matt is devastated by this news and is eager to get this surgery done as soon as possible so he can begin to recover and get back to what he loves most."

As of press time, the campaign has crossed the halfway mark of its $15,000 USD goal. You can find the GoFundMe here.

We wish Wood a successful surgery and speedy recovery. Earlier this year, Vein.fm delivered their sophomore LP This World Is Going to Ruin You, following their acclaimed debut Errorzone — the latter of which Exclaim! named among the Top 10 Metal and Hardcore Records of 2018.
