A GoFundMe has been created for Greg Norton — founding member and bass player of legendary Minnesota punk band Hüsker Dü and current member of Ultrabomb — following a prostate cancer diagnosis.

Norton was diagnosed at the beginning of June, and in a Facebook post discussing the news at the time, he wrote, "My doctors at the Mayo Clinic believe I have excellent odds. But we need to get in right away and move forward with treatment and surgery."

Created two days ago by friends of Norton, the GoFundMe's original goal was to raise $30,000 USD. As of this writing, it's raised more than $35,000 thanks to over 1,000 donations.

"We can't imagine the stress and anxiety he and his family must be going through," organizers wrote on Norton's GoFundMe. "One thing that's for sure, though, is that the cost of treatment in the United States is eyewatering. We want to help alleviate some of that pressure, so we've decided to set up a GoFundMe account to collect money for Greg to put towards his treatment."

Norton also shared that all previously scheduled UltraBomb tour dates in England and Scotland would be cancelled in the wake of his diagnosis. "We will also be pushing our fall tour in the states back a bit to allow me time to recover and return in full force," Norton wrote. He also urged "all of my brothers out there" to "go get tested" for prostate cancer. "It could be a life changer!"

Former Hüsker Dü bandmate Bob Mould also shared a link to Norton's GoFundMe on his Facebook page. "Help Greg Norton cover the costs of his medical treatment," he wrote. "Best wishes for a full recovery."

Hüsker Dü drummer and fellow founding member Grant Hart died of cancer in 2017 at age 56. That same year, Hüsker Dü released a 69-song boxset called Savage Young Dü, featuring 47 previously unreleased tracks from the trio's early years.
