Here's a very challenging release from Croatia's Gods of Chaos that the open-minded crust fan should definitely check out. This digital-only album lives on the borderline between unlistenable noise and fully raging crust/grind; it works when the two get combined in a fun, energetic way, but it can also be extremely tiring. It's definitely an eye-opener to have a disc start with a song like "Twitching Sours," which promises straight-ahead crust/grind but throws in quick bursts of weirdo noise and experimental sounds and ideas. The rest of the album continues in this fashion, and although there are periods where you just wish it would come to an end (and considering it's only 33 minutes, that's saying something), it's a wonderful headache at other times. Maybe they're a band best suited for either an EP or a full-length that has more thought put into the structure, allowing for greater ebb and flow.
