Gob Tour Canada

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jan 22, 2009

Vancouver pop punk legends Gob have seemingly been around forever, gradually improving their songwriting with each release and flirting with mainstream popularity. Their last album, 2007's Muertos Vivos, floated under the radar with their heaviest and slowest songs to date. Now a year-and-a-half after its release, the band have decided to take the album on a cross-country tour.

The tour kicked off last weekend in Whistler, BC and will continue eastward through BC, Alberta and Ontario before coming home with stops in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Many of the dates include performances at Canadian colleges. Ajax, ON semi-ska band the Johnstones will open most of the dates.

Whether or not you're a fan of the new album shouldn't matter too much, as two things are almost written in stone: at one point in the show Tom will climb on Theo's shoulders and play a guitar solo while Theo makes that weird face, and the band will most certainly play "Soda." Just like the good old days!
