Ghost Rider

Of all the comic books to turn into movies, Ghost Rider was among the least likely to succeed. Of course, the chances of it subsequently being turned into a mediocre videogame were just the opposite. The Marvel character’s mythology should be ripe for a game adaptation. Stunt biker Johnny Blaze finds his name a little too apt after selling his soul to Mephisto, who gives him a flaming skull-head and tries to turn him into an errand boy. Ignoring the film plot, a couple of comic scribes crafted a new storyline to follow but like everything else in this lazy license, it feels half-assed. The demon fighting mechanics are liberally borrowed from God of War — albeit paling beside GoW and its sequel — and while occasionally zooming along on a flaming motorbike is as fun as you may imagine, it’s not enough to drive the game forward. For fans it may be worth a rental but everyone else will want to just let this ghost ride off into the sunset.
