UK pop great George Michael tragically died on Christmas Day (December 25) last year at the age of 53, and now his cause of death has been revealed.

Following an "inconclusive" autopsy, further tests were carried out and the results conclude that Michael died of natural causes as a result of heart and liver disease. As reported by the BBC, an Oxfordshire coroner confirmed that Michael suffered "a dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver."

The coroner also confirmed that since it had been ruled a natural death, there will be no inquest.

He added, "No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy."

Funeral plans for the singer had been placed on hold while the tests were being conducted.
