Despite the fact that I own only two physical copies of Planet Smashers records, a combination of mix tapes from high school and the fact that I've seen the band play Warped Tour, like, every year since since I started to grow up, means that the band's live set is like a greatest hits onslaught that makes me feel twelve and in love with the fact that I'm out on a Saturday without my parents. It's seriously just such a damn joyful experience.
Fifteen years seems like a good milestone to allow you to interview drunk people in a bathroom. There were a lot more shots of people peeing and other people trying to mic the sound of those people peeing, but in the end, there's only so much urinating that's worth watching. The atmosphere was (if it's not obvious) pretty jubilant, and all our talk of anniversaries and best moments and worst moments only helped put a night of celebration in perspective. At least for me. How many punk bands (or just punks) in this country can claim to have stayed true to the roots they planted a decade and a half ago? Most bands / people don't last fifteen years. And the Planet Smashers are still playing rock and roll for full houses across this country. So, cheers.
