As members of legendary indie group Galaxie 500, as well as Luna and their duo Dean & Britta, husband-and-wife couple Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips have a deep and fascinating discography behind them. That'll expand even more, however, as they have a total of three new albums on the way.
Wareham has two solo albums complete, one of which was recorded with My Morning Jacket's Jim James in Kentucky and another that he did with the Papercuts' Jason Quever in San Francisco.
Speaking with Backstage Rider, Wareham explained that he's waiting on final details before he drops the new releases. "At some point these will be released under my name, but label and release date are still to be determined. Band is myself, Britta and Anthony LaMarca (our drummer) plus contributions from Jim James and Jason Quever respectively."
As for Phillips, she's working on a solo album of her own. Speaking with the same magazine, she explained that, while it's far from finished, her record will include covers of the Cars and Fleetwood Mac, as well as a ton of original material.
"It's a mix of electronics (drum machines, synths) and real bass and guitar," she said. "Mostly mellow tempos so far, but there's one original song that one could dance to. It started out as an instrumental track Dean and I recorded for Noah Baumbach's new film, Francis Ha!"
Stay tuned for more info on all three releases as they become available.
